Understanding the system

Having a little problem understanding the workings of the Silverleaf. It's working as it should and scans all the systems. Although some do not have a reading as it scans. Is there a way to tell if the system it is scanning has the correct connectability to the unit.
My unit also monitors my tires (pressure and temp), but as the unit scans all the systems it might go an hour without monitoring the tires. Then it starts monitoring the tires, but it never will leave that screen, unless I push the scan button to get it off the tires. I have tried to understand the manual, but nothing gives me the answers I need.
Thanks for any help

'Gallons to Empty' setting

Love the system - it came installed on our pre-owned Country Coach Inspire. The "Gallons to Empty" readout is always '0'. How do I get it to read accurately. (I have a 110 gallons fuel tank.)
Thanks in advance,
Ken

re: 'Gallons to Empty' setting

Hello Ken

Sometimes the best...and worst part about having such a wide array of products in so many custom installations--is that they're all very different in how they're set up.

For the moment I'll presume you have one of the dozen or so special groups of setups we did for Country Coach, using the VMS-240 and Pioneer nav and display system (all in a custom panel.)

If that's the case, perhaps you mean Miles To Empty? That can be set on the main TRIP screen.

Perhaps you could fill me in a little more on what you have.
Coach, year, engine. Silverleaf equipment models and other ancillary pieces (ex. has Accutrac?) That last part is a key tidbit for parsing out mileage--its needed to accurately gauge Gallons Remaining.

Not knowing the year or models leaves me curious but not very helpful I'm afraid.

Cheers

'Gallons to Empty' setting

Art, MANY thanks for the prompt reply. I have an '06 Country Coach Inspire 360, Cat 9 engine, SilverLeaf VMS 240 CL, version 3.2 manual, software 25823700 Aug04. Sorry, in asking about "Gallons to Empty" I was mingling "Distance to empty" and "Fuel level" both of which always read '0'. Since this is a pre-owned coach, I don't know if it has Accutrac or is equipped with the Pioneer, but I don't find their manuals. I do know how to set "Miles to go" on the main trip screen.

'Gallons to Empty' setting

Art, do I have to start a new thread? I am still wondering how to get the "Distance to empty" and "Fuel level" readouts to display properly. As I mentioned, they both always read '0' and I don't find anywhere in the manual as to how to set them.

re: 'Gallons to Empty' setting

Hello Ken,

My understanding is that, on that coach, the Accutrac must be installed (and working) for those gauges to read something other than '0.'

For clarification on this, I'm recommending you speak with our 'Legacy' guy, Mark. This is his kind of intrigue.

Mark: (888) 741-0259; just ask for him.

Cheers

Where to post questions. Good question!

Ken asked a good question--about starting a new thread or what.

This Forum is for the VMSpc products. It has (principally) VMSpc guys following it. Also, as I'm lead on that product, I follow it closely.

All other VMS products really should be addressed in their own group--the VMS Products Forum. Mark and the others sometimes scan through at break or lunch to mull them over.

That being said, we grade on a curve and there's no quiz on Friday or final exam. ;-) Both forums get checked throughout the day--then we wander around chit chatting about it, pondering, regurgitate lore, tell stories, talk about the Beavers [ Goooo Beaves!!! ] and may, eventually, post a reply.

The only rule is that You Must Post somewhere...or call. Either one is fine.

Thanks!

New I mean very new with a few issues

First How I do I change the color of the boxes? I have selected change color after a double click of the gauge but it stays white with blue letters.

Second Maybe I have a bad box as it shows a disconnect with the JIB and shows about 28 bad packets. I have turned everything off for a reset but I get the same. Also, I do not get a Trans Temp, Oil Pressure, or Gears. I have a 2006 Safari Cheetah with a CAT C7 350 HP. I would think the engine would record Oil Pressure? I am going to play with it some this afternoon and see what happens. I am sitting in storage with the engine running maybe I need to drive and see if anything changes?

Things are getting better I now understand why I don't have the inputs outlined in number 2 above. However still having trouble changing box colors I got two to change but not sure how that happened. Learning

New user...old issues, maybe...

Hello Frank

I've read your post and can help you sort this out. First point, however, is to get this topic over to the main body of the forum--its pretty buried here.

When you reply, use this link to do so if you're using any VMSpc software older/ earlier than v4.0.4. If using the new one, us this link instead. [Click on 'Help', "About VMSpc" to sort that out.]

I'll need to know the OS of your computer: XP, Win7,8 or 10? 6 or 9-pin diagnostics plug. The rest you and I can sort out.

See you there.
