I have a VMS 240 CL. Country Coach Intrigue 2004 42' 11696, Cat C12 Today I pulled into a camp ground and went in to reregister when I got back to the coach to start it all values on the VMS 240 CL showed 0 and the coach would not start. This has happened once before (same scenario). Both times I tried several times to get the engine to start. While it would crank it would not start. Both times after turning the ignition on and off a few times finally the VMS showed the proper values and the coach started fine. Any ideas as to where to start looking for the problem?
Yep, I have one: Ignition Solenoid. Under your drivers' seat, I believe in the bay directly below the cockpit, is a assortment of relays and a couple solenoids. A largish one powers the Ignition side of things--accessories-to-ECU. If not there....maybe in the Steering compartment. Or behind an access panel in the passenger side dash on earlier models. Its Country Coach Part Number: 02427 at any rate. Its sticking open. No ECU, no readings on the VMS and a no-start condition. A separate solenoid powers the starter motor. You could read a few labels and find the "Ignition Solenoid," also identified in the schematic for your coach (an easy fix, in theory) or, wait for it to fail, then do this: 1. While your sweetie cranks the engine, you have that little bay door open ... 2. bang on the solenoid (most likely) feeding the missing power. 3. Commence to replace the one that suddenly unsticks when you tap it. That's where I'd start. Also, check out this link: over on the IRV2 forum.
