I created a message for the cruise on VMSpc however it does not work correctly. "Cruise off" message is set to "match" 0.0. "Cruise on" is set to "match" 1.0 and "Cruise Set" is set to 129.0. Each value is the value displayed when a "cruise status" gauge is built. Can you explain at what state each message is "true" and does the message diplay when "true".
I tried that but it doesn't work. At times it works backwards. When the cruise is on the message displayed is cruise off and when the cruise is off the message displayed is cruise on. Sometimes you have to click on the gauge in order for it to change state.
I will look into this and see if there is an Issue with VMSpc or if there is a Configuration Issue..
Just added the settings I've been using to the above thread; that may be helpful to some users.
When I turn on the Cruise switch the message still displays cruise off. When I set the cruise the cruise on message displays. I have to hit cruise set switch again to display the cruise set message.
would it be possible to add messages to the log file so that you can see which messages are displayed when certain bits are set.
I will pass this on to the Boss to look at.. Maybe he can spot something I can not... MarkO
I have been banging my head on the wall with this one for several hours. It seemed to work intermittently at first with the message box display, but opposite of the way explained in the example on cruise status in the forum. I gave up on the text box after very inconsistent results and am just trying to use a simple gage "cruise status" to show a warning lamp that will switch to green when on and red when off. Now, the cruise off displays the "warning lamp" in red, and the cruise status "warning lamp" in yellow when on. That is until I hit the set or resume button, at which point the warning lamp goes to red regardless of the "Smart Wheel" cruise on button's being on. Don 99' Foretravel
Hello Don At first glance, I see PIDs to use are different from the direction posted earlier and that from Mark. Here: 85 Cruise Control Switch Status 86 Cruise Control Set Speed 87 Cruise Control High Limit 88 Cruise Control Low Limit ...are the codes at first blush. However, we're round-tabling here in the next hour. Will bring this to the table and come back with definition and clarity. Or, just better caffeinated and shrugging. ;-) Art //
Any news beyond the caffeination status? I have the message kinda-semi-working now, but it is still not very consistent. I would love to be able to reliably get the cruise ready and cruise set messages to consistently show up at the appropriate states of the cruise system. I will attempt to document the behavior I observe, but I am pretty sure it is inconsistent in terms of the button states. Hello Don Had to shoot this one to Martin; chief architect and coder. His answer (as usual) was remorseless and succinct: the status isn't updated very often and gets bumped. Or, something to that effect. He explains that its the status-quo for older engine combos to only report a status once in a while after status is initially set. If nothing changes (in its purview) then it may get dropped--until it...after some undetermined time...reports it again. Some things (within our software) can be forced to be updated; Fuelmeter and Odometer for example (as in VMSpc 3.1-build.2) I'm not sure we could force the Cruise System Status to be updated...even if we could tell it to within the PC interface. Probably not the answer you needed. Sorry... :-/ Art Renda Documentation Central, Silverleaf Electronics (888) 741-0259
