Will the VMSpc software and interface work with the USB port on the new Windows 8 Tablets? I almost went to the Android Tablet and Bluetooth a while back, but held off in hope that the new windows tablets would be a cleaner option.

We don't have a Windows 8 Tablet to test with, but I did verify that VMSpc will Install and Run on the Developers Preview of Windows 8 released in the Spring.. I would expect that it still should on the General Availability version.

I still have the serial-port version, running on a second-hand Panasonic Toughbook. I'd switch to a tablet and USB if touchscreen input were enabled. Is it?

I am not aware of how a Windows 8 Tablet handles the non "Mode formally known as Metro" applications. We don't have a Windows 8 Tablet to test with, so we don't know. VMSpc is written in Visual C++ 6, and is a Standard Win32 Application. The VMSpc application is not aware of the "Mode formally known as Metro".

If the ThinkPad is running the x86 version of Windows, it will work fine. Installing the USB Device Drivers might require setting up Windows to Allow Unsigned Device Drivers.
